A great time to be asked this question. While we can’t speak for submissions, original pieces are planned out. They typically stem from a real event and are only occasionally embellished so, when it comes time to transcribe them, we apply some forethought.

Speaking of planning, today we’re kicking off something we’ve been sitting on for a while, our Variations on a Theme. Basically, one of us comes up with a concept, adds a few stipulations, then we independently write our own take and post what we came up with.

We tried to get a few readers / submitters involved beforehand with little success. Maybe once you see what we’re up to, you’ll want to participate. The first variations will go up today and tomorrow. If you’re interested in being a part of future projects, let us know.
